From the beginning we have always been a brand that identifies with a sustainable lifestyle and cares about the environment. We demonstrate this through our collections that are constantly inspired by the environment, our love for animals or our landscapes and ecosystems.

On a day-to-day basis in our workshop and office, we also seek to contribute by reducing the consumption of single-use plastics, reducing production, reducing and controlling the consumption of water and electricity, reducing our carbon footprint by using supply chains where possible, local and nearby and manufacturing our 100% garments and accessories in Colombia.

Reusing fabrics and other supplies for the manufacture of our line of accessories. Reusing dress covers and paper bags to transport garments from the workshop to the stores.

Properly recycling the waste generated and delivering this waste to different collection centers.

Today we want to share with you some of the practices, advice and other tips that we consider very useful and that help us to be more aware and responsible.

It all boils down to this rule: REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE. This should be a mantra that we keep in mind every day.

  1. REDUCE

When we talk about reducing what we are saying is that we must try to minimize or simplify the consumption of products of all kinds, since this has a direct relationship with the waste.

  • The key is to buy responsibly.
  • Hopefully choosing products made as close as possible and from which you can know the supply chain.
  • You can start by reducing the use and consumption of single-use plastics, for example, change the plastic bottles for a thermos that you can load and fill as many times as you want. This is the same with all plastic elements such as straws, plates, glasses, cutlery, etc. Now you find alternatives in wood and cardboard for these utensils.
  • Reduce the consumption of foods that come in individual packages. For example, instead of buying cookies that come in many packages, choose to buy the large package and portion your own “packages” in Tupperware or other types of containers.
  • Buy in bulk. More and more supermarkets have this option for grains or even detergents.
  • Reduce meat consumption
  • Can you use your car less?

  1. RE-USE

Reusing is giving a second life to a product. It may be to change the chip in our purchasing habits and not be guided by the idea of "buy, use and throw away", to which we are increasingly accustomed thanks to fast fashion. Before throwing away an object or a garment that you no longer use, ask yourself if you cannot give it another use or you can put it up for sale second hand. Nowadays these initiatives are very fashionable and every day they will have more demand. Not only will you be helping the environment but you can also make some money.

  • Instead of always getting new bags for fruits and vegetables at the supermarket, reuse the ones you have or look for reusable cotton mesh bags.
  • Reuse packaging type ziplock, jam jars and use them to store spices, grains or as Tupperware.
  • Do you have clothes that you no longer wear? Look for a thrift sale or donation, or see if you can give it a new lease of life by altering the garment at a tailor shop.
  • TIP! You can take advantage of all the leftover vegetables that come out when you cut or clean them, such as: the head of the onion, carrot peel, celery leaves, etc. You are collecting them in a ziplock in the freezer and when you have the bag full you can make a super vegetable broth with them.
  • Paper bags can be used to store strawberries, mushrooms and other vegetables in the fridge. It helps them not get damaged so quickly.

  1. RECYCLE

The last of the tasks is to recycle. Humans have always produced waste, but today, thanks to consumerism, we see an exorbitant increase in the volume of rubbish. In addition, its toxicity has increased to the point of becoming a very serious problem for society.

So when you throw something in the trash, think about where that waste is going to go. The least we can do is be responsible for our own garbage and do our best to put it to a “proper” end.

  • Don't buy plastic bags to throw away more plastic. Reuse the bags that the market comes in or if you have to buy, look for the compostable alternative.
  • Discard plastic, cans and clean glass. It costs nothing to rinse with a little soap and water.
  • Bundle the clean paper and dispose of it in an equally clean paper bag.
  • Think of the recyclers, help make their work a little more enjoyable
  • TIP! DO NOT throw organic waste in the black trash. Did you know that organic waste in landfills produces methane gas which is much more harmful than CO2? The alternative for this is composting. We recommend that you know this company https://www.mascompost.org/
  • TIP! Fill plastic bottles (soft drinks, detergents, etc.) with clean plastic wrapping, for example, bread bags, biscuit packets, detergent sachets... Did you know that houses can be built with this waste? You can see more on the @Ecoworks Instagram account. An excellent solution to give a second life to plastic packaging.

Actually the list of initiatives that we can take to contribute to this cause is endless. We are convinced that any action contributes, the important thing is to start somewhere.

Let's not forget that we live in one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, so it is our responsibility to be consistent with our actions and be guardians of this paradise. Let's help preserve the legacy for future generations. We invite you to join 😉

Very soon we will have a new collection inspired by this theme.
